Rakaposhi Peak registration is open for all seasons. We are offering Rakaposhi Peak for mountaineers, climbers and alpinists from around the world. Rakaposhi is a mountain in the Karakorum mountain range in Pakistan. It is situated in the Nagar Valley approximately 100 km north of the city of Gilgit in the Gilgit District of the Gilgit-Baltistan province of Pakistan. Rakaposhi means “Snow Covered” in the local language. Rakaposhi is also known as Dumani (“Mother of Mist”). It is ranked 27th highest in the world and 12 highest in Pakistan, but it is more popular for its beauty than its rank might suggest. Rakaposhi was first climbed in 1958 by Mike Banks and Tom Patey, members of A British-Pakistani expedition, via the Southwest Spur/Ridge route. Both of them suffered minor frostbite during the ascent. The journey to the summit starts from the villageMinapinin the Nagar Valley of Gilgit-Baltistan. A 4×4 or a jeep can be taken till Minapin either straight from Gilgit city or from the nearest town of Hunza Valley. It is also to be noted that the trek to Rakaposhi Base Camp known as ‘TaghaPharri’ has become a relatively crowded tourist destination during the summers. The best time for the ascent to the summit remains between May to August. The Karakoram Mountain Range is a massive chain of mountains across Pakistan and China that hosts one of the greatest mountains of the world including K2. It is 500km long and 200km wide and connects with Hindukush and Himalaya Mountains at few points. It is now home to many different valleys and people across the region including Skardu, Hunza and Gilgit. After the expedition to Rakaposhi Peak, one can enjoy a delightful stay in one of the most beautiful locations in Pakistan in the Hunza Valley region.
