The K6 & K7 Base Camp Trek in Charakusa Valley, Pakistan, is an unforgettable adventure into one of the most spectacular and remote mountain regions of the Karakoram. Located in Ghanche District, Gilgit-Baltistan, near the traditional mountain village of Hushe, Charakusa Valley is famous for its dramatic granite towers, rugged glaciers, peaceful alpine campsites, and breathtaking views of some of the world’s most impressive peaks.
This trek offers an excellent opportunity to explore the wild beauty of the Karakoram beyond the more frequently visited trekking routes. As you travel deeper into Charakusa Valley, the landscape changes from green meadows and mountain streams to rocky trails, glacial terrain, and towering peaks that rise dramatically above the valley. The magnificent K6 (7,282 m) and K7 (6,934 m) are among the major highlights of this region, attracting experienced climbers from around the world.
The journey usually begins in Skardu, the main gateway to Baltistan’s high mountains, before continuing by road through Khaplu to Hushe village. From Hushe, the trekking route leads towards the beautiful Charakusa Valley, passing traditional settlements, alpine landscapes, and remote camping areas. Along the way, trekkers can enjoy spectacular views of the surrounding Karakoram peaks, including Link Sar and other striking mountain formations, depending on the route and weather conditions.
Unlike a technical mountaineering expedition, the standard K6 and K7 Base Camp Trek focuses on exploring the valley and reaching scenic viewpoints and base-camp areas. However, it remains a demanding high-altitude trek, with rocky paths, glacier moraine, steep sections, and changing mountain weather. Good physical fitness, appropriate trekking equipment, acclimatization, and support from an experienced local team are important for a safe and enjoyable journey.
At Machulo Treks & Tours Pakistan, we bring local knowledge and experience of Baltistan’s mountain trails to every journey. Our team helps organize transportation, camping arrangements, meals, porters, and professional trekking support according to your selected itinerary. We aim to provide a rewarding mountain experience while respecting local communities and the fragile environment of the Karakoram.
